Hiatus

Nothing catches my ire lately to write about now, save the same old assaults against decency which I have beat to death a hundred times by now.

So it is with this blog. For the near future at least, do not expect the updates to be as fast or as furious as they have been in the past. It is hard to sustain a continuous stream of thoughts week after week without becoming repetitive and crassly narcissistic in appearance and fact.

To be honest, this is a course which I have been contemplating for a while. Blogging has ceased to be a release for me, having mutated over time through declining interest into an evening chore. I expected that this would happen at some point. You may have noticed a decreasing commitment to these pages in recent months by my declining posting frequency and quality of my writing - that is, if you even care at all, which is unlikely. But that is your right, of course.

If something exceptional catches my interest, it shall likely find its way here. But there is little in this world anymore that does not simply make me shake my head in "been there, seen that, bought that tee shirt."

This light will be dimmed for now. But one day the old fire will burn hot and bright again, and the elites will once again tremble at the sight of truth.

Ta ta for now.

Offline (for now)

My computer was attacked by a virus a couple days ago and it may be not for long. So no computer means no internet access means no true updates untilI can get it repaired or replaced (no later than this weekend).

Hasta luego for now!

New blog site!

The inspiration bug having bit me due to last night's post, and with soap operas leaving a huge imprint in my mind as of late, I have inaugurated a new site for a continuing work of online soap opera fiction - Far From Heaven. (General Hospital, eat your heart out.) Eventually it may come to include any other fiction that crosses my mind (thus the URL "urbanprairiefiction").

Don't worry, this main blog will not be neglected. It remains to see how far I intend to go with this. The thing about serialized drama, however, is that I have found that it comes in littles. So no inspiration to-day, let it come tomorrow.

I have always desired to write a bit, and now I have the venue. So here it is. Enjoy.

Yay

Back to work at last!! Finally free from the electronic wasteland of daytime television and utter isolation!!

Seriously, now I know why daytime TV ratings have gone downhill for years. Every network tries to outdo each other in the 'mindless crap which sells toilet bowl cleaner' programming genre.

Shit, even TPiR has faded. Half the products up there aren't being sponsored. Ya ever notice that Rich Fields will sometimes only give a brief description of a game prize (usually a minor one like a stick of toothpaste) without plugging the name brand or advertising copy? Dat's cuz the TPiR production staff has to go out and buy those things themselves, since companies like P&G and Colgate-Palmolive aren't providing products free to them anymore, since the vehicle of the game show as a means of tempting housewives to purchase more toilet bowl cleaner is a thing of the past.

Many of you out there have no idea how much power the major consumer goods corporations had, and continue to exert, over the makeup of the daytime television schedule - not only as advertisers, but as outright producers of programming (soap operas, anyone?).

Well that day may be ending. It would appear that the likes of "The Big 4-0" and "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" will be the dominant programming forces in our daytime future. Just hope that SciFi will be generous enough to air more "Twilight Zone" reruns to mitigate the unprecendented levels of crap to come.

I wonder if that will sell toilet bowl cleaner effectively.

Glad I work for a living and don't (usually) have to observe the chaos.

Laid up

In case you're wondering where I've been, I've had a little illness. Upper respiratory infection, to be exact.

Do you know how much I hate missing work? This is my second day home and I've nearly gone nuts with idleness. I have never taken more than thirty minutes of sick leave in the two plus years that I've been at my current employer.

I should be able to go back tomorrow. Even if I don't, I'm going to work anyway. I'm sick of staying home. Frankly I'm feeling well enough to go back now, but my parents insist that I stay home till the fever runs down. Now what does this make me look like? A lazy slacker, that's what.

Gone trippin'

Lack of poasts here was due to a family gathering yesterday - specifically my cousin's wedding. We traveled to a small town about an hour west of here for the nuptials and stayed overnight, and a good time was had by all. We also have more food now than we can eat in two weeks.

I have returned now, so more fun filled days in the urban jungle are forthcoming.

Laid up

Didn't post yesterday, I know.  We had an all day work related field trip, and then right when getting back home dumbass me slips and falls square on my back on the wet concrete, spraining my wrist in the process.

So between time constraints and my sore back/hand, I have not been in the best of conditions to write blog posts.  My hand was too sore to type, as it was.  But I am feeling better now and thankfully the wrist injury is not a fracture.

More fun filled material forthcoming soon, hopefully.

Welcome to the blog

Welcome to my blog. This insignificant bit of the web will be henceforth dedicated to whatever crosses my mind - mainly social commentary, political views (Ron Paul REVOLution! - I promise not to overdo it), topics related to my hobbies (urban development, history, highway transportation, classic cinema, and whatnot), and anything else I care to spout about.

For those diehard handful of you out there in online land who are just dying to know what the title of this blog means....let's just say that I live in a rather undesirable area, where much urban prairie can be found. Besides that fact, the phenomenon of 'urban prairie' is that which best represents to me the decay of our modern society - the regression of civilization back toward the wildness of primitivism and social dissolution. For those not familiar with the concept, I direct you to this site to educate yourself on that topic.

Truly, when we all educate ourselves to understand the unadulterated truth, we can make small but crucial steps to improve this world.
