Apocalypse now

The simmering proxy warfare in Georgia is more than a transient matter to geopolitics. It is the culmination of a foreign policy path that may lead to unbelievable devastation and civilizational collapse.

Russia has never been trusted to just do its thing by Amerikan policymakers, many of whom remain in a Cold War mentality (since it suits their nihilistic worldview well, plus it was the curriculum centerpiece in foreign policy skool). Amerikan policy has been deliberately crafted to hem Russia in from all sides - expansion of NATO to include former Soviet republics, tacit and covert support of post-Soviet states to bring them into the Amerikan orbit, belligerency and bellicose ambitions at all levels. This has never been openly acknowledged by our Leaders, but from all intents and purposes this policy is obvious. The recent friendly overtures to China (another country with which Russia shares a border) by our Leader is just another piece in the puzzle.

If Russia decided to build military bases in Mexico with the intent of keeping Amerikan hegemony in check (actually, come to think about it, not a bad idea), would not Amerikans be highly displeased and logically view this as a threat to its sovereignty?

So do not be surprised when Russia exerts its power against neighboring states that it deems threatening to its national security, aka Amerikan client states such as Georgia which are supported primarily through the generosity of Amerikan taxpayers. Remember, for those of you who are geographically challenged, Georgia and Russia are neighbors, unlike the states which happen to be the victims of Amerikan imperial activities. (A hint: the names of the countries in question begin with the letters A and I.)

All this proxy warfare reminds me terribly of the events which led to the outbreak of the First World War, the seminal event which placed Western civilization on its current course of collapse, deified the State, and demarcated the transformation between the era of the individual and the era of the State (as Mussolini so accurately put it).

The powder keg of the Caucusus, or the Middle East, or Taiwan, etc. is the propellant which will engulf the world in the horror of thermonuclear warfare, and the extinction of the human race. I shudder to type these words. But it is growing clearer that unless rational heads prevail (a highly unlikely outcome, since reason has been discarded in favor of the most primitive form of collectivism and anti-reason) it is a near certainty that as in the first great war, some regional crisis is bound to spiral out of control into a general conflict between the great powers. It is a near certainty, since war and death is the inclination of madmen such as reign on high in the highly militarized, anti-individualist nation-states of this machine age. In this case, events will lead to the extermination of billions of lives.

There will be no "post war" to speak of then. In this nuclear age, war is total and complete annihilation of populations and entire civilizations is the aim and outcome. Death of untold billions and the likely extinction of humanity will be the final result.

I am reminded of an ancient script of Indian origin, the Mahabharata, to wit:

Gurkha flying in his swift and powerful Vimana
hurled against the three cities of the Vrishis and Andhakas
a single projectile
Charged with all the power of the Universe.
An incandescent column of smoke and flame
As bright as the thousand suns
Rose in all its splendor...
a perpendicular explosion
with its billowing smoke clouds...
...the cloud of smoke
rising after its first explosion
formed into expanding round circles
like the opening of giant parasols...

..It was the unknown weapon,
the Iron Thunderbolt,
a gigantic messenger of death
which reduced to ashes the entire race of the
Vrishnis and Andhakas,

...The corpses were so burned
As to be unrecognizable.
The hair and nails fell out;
Pottery broke without apparent cause,
And the birds turned white.

After a few hours
All foodstuffs were infected...
...to escape from this fire
The soldiers threw themselves in streams
To wash themselves and their equipment.

Sound familiar?

Apparently, several thousand years ago, ancient civilization had its own crisis of near extinction accomplished by nuclear holocaust. Consider the several thousand years required to recover from this horrific act...and you see the stark choice facing humanity today.

Act, before it is too late, or you are certain to be incinerated by the heat of the nuclear oven.
