To-day was the long anticipated and festive Southeast Louisiana Road Gathering!! Fearless in the face of danger and evacuation traffic, we came together with purpose to share our stories of roadtrips past and sights seen!
Meeting at Copeland's Restaurant in Slidell, the fellow Roads Scholars conferred and, after consuming a hearty lunch, commenced the tour:
The I-10 Twin Spans, old and new (new bridge is under construction in the foreground).
The south terminus of the US 11 Lake Pontchartrain bridge.
The new US 90 Rigolets bridge. The old bridge and approaches (now dismantled) roughly followed the gravel path which is now behind the wooden rail.
And finally, the nearly completed Fremaux Avenue (US 190 Business) interchange in Slidell.
Attendees pictured above, from left to right: Froggie, HB Elkins, Jason Ilyes, myself, Taralyn aka "Darkangel de la Louisiane."
To all and in particular to Froggie: Thank you for putting this together and for inviting all of us! I positively enjoyed myself and was happy to finally meet all of you in person.
