10 April 2009

You may understand by now that to-day is my favorite religious holiday.

On this day, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, agnostics, Satanists, atheists, Rastafarians, Flying Spaghetti Monsterians can hold hands, sing kumbaya, dance together, and chant in united belief:

On this day two thousand years ago, there is no controversy about what happened: He who was called the Nazarene died and went to hell.

It is what happened on the third day that the major religions dispute. But that is for another day to prattle over.

How anyone can believe in the literal resurrection of the body, I have no idea. It is rationally impossible! Those who believe the lie are deluded like young children.

But there is no delusion about the crucifixion of the Christ. Death is real. And Christianity rejoices, for in this death he "saved" us from our sins....the elevation of self-sacrifice and the abolition of the self to a malignant, two thousand year old dogma. The idolaters of the State could do no better than this.

But let us indeed rejoice to-day, if only to celebrate the demise of those who would claim to be on par with god!
